ProgDay Music Fest Next Weekend

ProgDay, now in it’s 19th year, was an idea born in Scranton. It’s an outdoor festival of international progressive rock music.

Not so firm on your Prog Rock? Think back to Genesis, Yes and Rush. More recently, bands including Tool and The Mars Volta have put their stamp on Prog.

This year, ProgDay spans Saturday and Sunday, August 31 – September 1, 2013. It’s held out at beautiful Stonybrook Farm just west of Scranton and Carrboro. The music starts in the morning and goes on all day until dusk.

This Year’s Line Up

I don’t know any of these bands. They’re from all over the planet and are expanding the contemporary language of Prog rock.

There’s Thank You Scientist from the US and SimakDialog from Indonesia. Out of the Beard Space hails from South Jersey and Mavara comes from Iran.

One thing’s for sure – great musicianship. Prog Rock is about blending virtuosity with rock and roll.
